Privacy Policy - SemScore

Last updated: June 10, 2026

One Day Developers ("OD2", "we", "us", or "our") built the SemScore application as a free service. This page is used to inform users regarding our policies with the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Information if anyone decides to use our Service.

By choosing to use our Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in relation to this policy. The terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meanings as in our Terms and Conditions, which are accessible at SemScore unless otherwise defined in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information Collection and Use

For a premium experience, our application uses third-party services that may collect information used to identify you.

A. Local Sandbox Storage (Offline-First)

SemScore is designed with an offline-first architecture:

  • All academic ledger records (ScoreVault semesters, courses, and grade points), attendance sheets (BunkMeter logs), sessional calculations, and university rule presets are stored locally on your device using an SQLite database and private SharedPreferences.
  • This data never leaves your device, is not synchronized to cloud backup servers, and is fully deleted if you select "Wipe All Offline Data" in Settings or uninstall the application.

B. Firebase Analytics

We utilize Firebase Analytics (Google Analytics) to measure performance, app reliability, and to understand user engagement. The events logged include:

  • Application launch events (app_open) and screen transitions (screen_view).
  • Generalized sessional or GPA calculator interactions (e.g., adding calculator rows or recording grades).
  • Database synchronization states (success/fail) to monitor OD2 API status.
  • This information is aggregated, anonymous, and does not contain personal names, grades, emails, or identifier data.

C. Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM)

To deliver real-time academic updates (e.g., new university sessional schemas or grading modifications), we use Firebase Cloud Messaging:

  • The service registers a unique FCM Device Token.
  • This token is synced securely to our servers (od2.in) only when notifications are enabled. It is used strictly for routing system alerts.
  • Privacy Shield: In compliance with security standards, the FCM Client Registration Token is masked/hidden in production Settings and is only visible during active developer debug sessions to prevent unauthorized token collection.

D. User Feedback & Support

If you manually submit support tickets or sessional corrections via our feedback form:

  • Your comments, star ratings, and generic user-agent strings are securely delivered to our feedback system (od2.in).
  • This data is used solely to correct calculators and resolve software tickets.

2. Service Providers

We may employ third-party companies and individuals due to the following reasons:

  • To facilitate our Service;
  • To provide the Service on our behalf;
  • To perform Service-related analysis.

These third parties have access to your Device Identifiers (e.g. for analytics purposes) solely to perform the tasks assigned to them on our behalf. They are obligated not to disclose or use the information for any other purpose.

3. Security

We value your trust in providing us your information. We use industry-standard practices to protect local databases and secure API tokens in transport (via HTTPS). However, remember that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure and reliable, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

4. Children’s Privacy

These Services do not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. In the case we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we immediately delete this from our servers. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we will be able to do necessary actions.

5. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Thus, you are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. These changes are effective immediately after they are posted on this page.
